Pine Trees
As a modeler, I have found the Ponderosa / Lodgepole style tree most elusive in terms of replication in model form. However, via my futile attempts, I created these unusual specimens. I feel the branches have a unique character, different from my usual "material over-the-top" method of construction. This is acquired via a "from the side" sequential application of fibers, which is new to me in concept. It seems to me this could represent firs that might thrive in a drier climate. I feel the overall presentation is closer to that of a pine tree. Scroll right or left using arrows to view additional photos (photo slider).
"WESTERN" Style Pine Trees
These are the first filament-type trees made fall 2024. They have a "drier" look as compared to our Standard and Premium style fir trees. They have a sculpted lower trunk portion and some have added mosses. We enjoy crafting each rooty base one by one!
ALPINE Style Pine Trees
The Alpine style trees are narrower and fuller. The branch structure is oriented outward and a little more downward to reflect those bushy, mountainous, and sharp edges similar to alpine trees. These remind me of the trees at the top of the western Cascade mountains which are covered by snow much of the year.
"MINI" 3-5 inches Pine Trees
Only 3 to 5 inches tall, yet nthey still have many of the fine features inherent to our line. Fiber armature, our exclusive foliage blend, and highlights. Built upon a tapered bamboo trunk with a sharpened end for placement on the layout or diorama.
LODGEPOLE Style Pine Trees
These 8 inch Lodgepole style trees are available now, with many more in development. As we continue to experiment with different fiber types, characteristics, and lengths, there will be more of these coming up quickly.
We continue to explore the potential of this technique on all available trunks, with and without roots and other detailing. More photos below. Scroll down further to purchase.
