There is a difference...

in the general appearance of the Redwood tree as compared to the Sequoia.

The Redwood is considerably thinner, whilst the Sequoia is...well...the Sequoia!

Key differences:

  1. Redwood: Thinner trunk / taller aspect ratio
  2. Sequoia: Thick, heavy trunk, with large gnarls at the base.
  3. Both can have Dead Top presentation.

Both are conifers, but they differ significantly in habitat and shape. Redwoods are the tallest, but Sequoias are massive. Redwoods are found near the foggy coast, with thinner trunks, while Sequoias (Giant Sequoias) are the world's largest by volume, found inland in the Sierra Nevada mountains, with massively wide trunks, thicker bark, and scale-like leaves. They thrive in dryer, higher-elevation areas.

September '25 Redwoods and Sequoia Lineup!

I have shrunken them considerably in order to get them to fit inside the studio.

(Hey, I used to work in a genetics lab) ;)
