Hikade Dental was my first commercial project. The actual complex was already built, so I was able to work from photos as well as CAD files to produce the model from basswood. Cut-off sections of carved basswood and balsa were used to form the "stone" surface textures. The roof and second floor are removable, facilitating viewing of the interior wall structures. The external rounded staircase was constructed over a soup can that conveniently matched the requisite diameter. The central tree is fabricated from an eastern Oregon tumbleweed I found rolling about Rowena. Elevations are per architectural specifications gleaned from the CAD files. Produced by Roger Rasmussen for Giulietti Schouten Weber Architects, 2800 NW Thurman St, Portland, Oregon and currently on display in their corner window. 24"x36"x24", 1/48 scale.
