Are you wanting to make your own high quality fir trees but just needed a helping hand?  Our Fir Tree Kits do just that - and get you going on a Scenic Old Growth Style of tree that is dramatic and detailed.  You build the tree, then you can make them as detailed as you like, or not!

All of our kits come with our unique cedar trunks, tapered to a fine point just like many real trees.  And now, they come with our ALL NEW Green Branches foliage material.  This new material is made from coconut coir and Woodland Scenics (TM) Conifer Green Coarse ground foam.  The combination exhibits fine detail and prototypical color.  We believe it appears more similar to the understory and the needles of the real trees.  Decide for yourself from the photos.

"Old Growth" style Fir Trees Kits

The "Old Growth" Kits are available in the following sizes: 7 inch, 9 inch, 11 inch, and 13 inch heights.

"Second Growth" style Fir Trees Kits:

These kits provide smaller trees, 6 and 8 inches in height, with narrower trunks. I refer to the trees made from these kits as, "Second Growth" trees. Second Growth is a forestry term that differentiates between the trees that were originally discovered and harvested, aka "Old Growth", and those that matured after that time, aka "Second Growth".
There are two heights featuring the hardwood (bamboo) material trunks; 6" and 8". These trunks are narrower, about 3/16" at the base. The trunk material is tougher than cedar, which helps because it is less likely to break when applying the foliage. They have the same bark color as the cedar, with somewhat less bark detail due to the hard nature of the material. I do recommend this material for modeling smaller, narrower trees, as the fine tree tops are less likely to break during construction. The modeler must form finer portions of the Green Branch Foliage from the main supply when constructing these trees.

The bamboo trunk material comes from overseas (China I'm sure) but I form this into the tapered model tree trunk shape and add all the detailing here in my tiny factory in Port Orford, Oregon. Yes, we have calluses too!
