There are already so many versions of model trees on the market. What makes Coastmans different?
My vision is for modelers to have trees of exceptional quality available to them at a price that is within reach. We package trees in finished form as well as in kit form, and we offer a wide range of trees, from background trees to classic up-front old-growth timber. I've made all the components available separately, so you always have access to spare parts. If you look closely at Coastmans trees, you'll see these aren't just ordinary trees...they're trees that tell a story!
I'm really impressed with the look of your trees, but I don't think I could make a model of that. If I try your kit, how do I know I'll be able to make it look like yours?
"If you can make a sandwich, you can build a Coastmans tree!" Essentially all you have to do to build a Coastmans tree from a kit is place the branches on the trunk. Incidentally, one characteristic of Coastmans trees is that as long as you haven't glued anything together, you can reconstruct any tree until you achieve the desired presentation. Additionally, I have supplied video and written instructional support on this website, carefully written detailed instructions in each package of kit trees, and plenty of tree images to guide you. With a little practice you'll have novel trees on your layout and likely spare parts to boot.
Why don't I just make my own tree parts like you have and save money?
Of course you can try that. That is the spirit of model railroading in its purest essence. However, if you want something unique and different, as well as some fodder for ideas, you might consider Coastmans. FYI, there are twenty individual steps taken to produce the materials included in a Coastmans Douglas Fir Tree Kit. I've spent two years developing the systems and machines that allow me to create these specific style of trees. Model railroading is truly a discipline which routinely incorporates some materials you make yourself and others which are purchased, for the sake of achieving some progress in this widely diverse hobby. Coastmans Trees are designed to work well with many types of other homemade and commercial trees and scenery products.
Where can I find Coastmans Trees?
Hobby shops on the West Coast (click here for a list), our Online Store in this website, and occasionally at railroading swap meets in Western Oregon.
